Advisors to families in business on matters of succession planning, governance, family councils, family meetings, family charters, conflict resolution, estate and wealth management, leadership development, communications, strategic and business planning, marketing, next generation development, and financial planning. We conduct a comprehensive assessment survey of all our family business clients to determine their strengths and identify areas where we can offer assistance. Through the Institute  for Family Business, we also offer educational opportunities, in partnership with others, aimed at assisting family and private enterprises with many of the multiple challenges they face. These educational opportunities are scheduled at different times throughout the year. IFB is also considering hosting PODCASTS  featuring family business owners, entrepreneurs, professional advisors, and community leaders in philanthropy. DIRECTOR, GOERING CENTER for FAMILY & PRIVATE BUSINESS-ADJUNCT PROFESSOR of ENTREPRENEURSHIP/FAMILY BUSINESS/ECONOMICS/FINANCE-FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/HOST-HOMETOWN BUSINESS WEEKLY TV PROGRAM WCPO CHANNEL 9 CINCINNATI Complete executive responsibility for the management, development, fundraising, and strategic implementation of all Center activities and programs. First full-time Center Director. Elevated the Center into one of the leading family business centers both regionally and nationally, with over 200 member companies. Center’s focus is to assist family and closely held firms, through programs, seminars, teaching and consulting, with issues such as: succession planning; strategic planning; communications and family councils; outside boards; financial and tax planning, estate and wealth management issues; charitable and philanthropic strategic planning; next generation development; valuations; equity and ownership issues; and many other critical matters faced by family and private firms. Have developed many community outreach initiatives and partnerships that support the mission of the Center and have engaged numerous professional advisory firms that provide both financial support to the Center and professional expertise. Consulted with numerous Family Businesses on  succession planning, governance, conflict resolution, creating family councils/family meetings, family charters, estate and wealth management planning, strategic and business planning, marketing strategy, improving communications, and next generation development.

 

 Published a Family Business Report on a monthly basis that reached a circulation of 18,000 and readership of about 80,000.  Initiated, developed, and managed a highly successful Family Business of the Year event, honoring 12 successful family firms from the region(attended by over 600 each year). Developed an 8 month, mentored, Executive Education certificate program aimed at the family firm’s Next Generation leadership(have graduated over 160 family members and looked to expand the program into other regional markets). Developed a four month Executive Education Leadership Development program(first class graduated in 2007) aimed at enhancing leadership skills of family business owners.  Initiated numerous financial partnerships, and membership development programs to enhance financial support of the Center. Considered developing  a national speaker series featuring high profile family business owners. Developed Center web site to be interactive between members companies, advisors, Center financial partners, students, community partners, advertisers, professional associations, and other valuable resources for family firms.

 

Authored numerous articles on Family Business matters and been a guest speaker on Family Business issues for both local and national organizations including:  Home Builders Associations, Trailways Franchise Owners, American Bakers Association, Ohio Floral Association, Commercial Printers Association, Auto Collision Association, Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club,  Ft. Lewis College, Hanover College, Cincinnati Bar Association, and American Association of Meat Processors.
